Basic Ticket Entry

Registered users with Basic Ticket Entry access can submit Normal and Design locate request tickets, as well as find, copy, and update existing tickets.

Accurate driving directions and detailed locating instructions are required when submitting a locate request. Incomplete or vague information may delay processing.

Request submitted Mon-Fri, 7:00AM-4:00 PM (excluding holidays) are typically processed same day. Request after 4:00 PM or on holidays are processed the next business day. Requests are not valid until you receive a confirmation email from MS811. If you don't receive it within one business day, contact MS811 immediately.

Advanced Ticket Entry

Users with Advanced permissions (Training Required) can fully process Normal, Design, Emergency, and Impending Emergency locate request tickets without MS811 agent assistance, as well as find, copy, and update existing tickets.

Note: Misuse of Emergency or Impending Emergency tickets violates Mississippi Dig Law and may result in revoked access or trigger an AVR.

  ⬥ Emergency: Excavation must involve immediate danger to life, health, property, or service outage. on-site contact information required. Include Remarks noting if the crew is On-site or en route, and why the request is an emergency.
  ⬥ Impending Emergency: Work involves danger that is likely to escalate, but immediate excavation is not yet required.

Electronic Pre-marking

Effective July 1, 2025, all proposed excavation areas must be physically, or electronically pre-marked. Electronic Pre-marking is done in the Portal using lines, points, or polygons to define the dig area. To qualify as electronically pre-marked:

  ⬥ The ticket must be fully submitted by the excavator
via the Portal
  ⬥ MS811 agent-submitted tickets or Basic users’ tickets do not qualify
  ⬥ User must have Advanced Ticket Entry + Electronic Pre-marking permissions
(granted after training)

Advanced Ticket Entry & Electronic Pre-marking Training Options

Permissions are granted by MS811 upon completion of training through one of the following methods:

Positive Response (PRIS)
